Vipers SC head coach Alex Isabirye doesn’t expect more Uganda Premier League slip-ups from his side as they host Express FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.
The Venoms top the table via a superior goal difference, as with 46 points, they hold the same tally as runners-up KCCA FC and third-placed SC Villa.
The defending champions have dropped five points from a possible six in the last two games against Soltilo Bright Stars FC and Onduparaka FC, and Isabirye demands a response.
"Last week has been tough where we lost five points and only picked one point in two games. It's not easy because the matches come in thick and fast," noted Isabirye to the club press on Monday.
"But we always have the belief in the quality of our squad. Combined with the hurt we suffered last week, I'm hoping we can do what's required to win the game."
Meanwhile, Express have lost just once in the last eight league matches, winning thrice and drawing on four occasions.
"I am not expecting an easy game because Express have done well. They showed an awful lot of character against KCCA FC in Luzira over the weekend with only 14 players."
"So, there is no chance that it’s going to be an easy game. We have to make sure we're ready for the challenge, the battle and the fight."
Vipers holds dominion over this fixture, with nine victories since the 2012/13 season. Express has only three wins while eight matches have ended in stalemates.
It ended in a barren draw in the first round, while the hosts won 3-0 at the same grounds last season, thanks to a Yunus Sentamu brace and a strike from Bright Anukani.
