Udinese surrendered a lead at home to Bologna to lose 2-1 despite Nigerian striker Isaac Success' best efforts
Bologna came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win away at Udinese who were led by Nigerian striker, Isaac Success.
Udinese took the lead at the Dacia Arena in a commanding first-half display through a goal which was made by Success and scored by Beto.
Success’ ball into the area was met first time by Beto, who directed it expertly into the top-right corner past the helpless Łukasz Skorupski to put Udinese in front after just 10 minutes of play.
Udinese 1-2 Bologna
Buoyed on by an early opener, Udinese continued on strongly in hopes of securing their first win in 2023 as they had momentum on their side.
Beto thought he had scored his second goal in the space of five minutes when he converted from Rodrigo Becão’s cross, however after a VAR check the goal was disallowed for offside.
Udinese failed to establish their first-half dominance by adding to their lead which came back to haunt them as Bologna improved drastically in the second 45 minutes.
Nicola Sansone controlled Nikola Moro’s sharp pass superbly before firing past Marco Silvestri into the right corner in the 59th minute to level proceedings.
Bologna twisted in the dagger 10 minutes from time when Jerdy Schouten headed into the path of Stefan Posch from a corner, and the full-back made no mistake by nodding in to clinch a dramatic win.
The result lifts Bologna two places to 11th, while Udinese remain eighth as their struggles continue, now without a win in 10 league games, a run dating back to October 3, 2022.
