The lanky striker hopes to find consistent game time this season after being given the nod to start against AFC Leopards as they won 1-0, which will enable him to find consistency.

KCB FC striker Francis Kahiro is looking forward to maintaining his momentum after a decent outing in their win over AFC Leopards in a match played at the Kasarani Stadium a fortnight ago.

The former FC Talanta striker was given the nod to start by head coach Bernard Mwalala and looked very competent coming for the ball deep, linking play, and moving into channels, which gave the Leopards' backline a torrid time before substitute Derrick Otanga came off the bench to score after exploiting the tiring defence.

Kahiro has praised new coach Bernard Mwalala for giving everyone a fair chance to show what they can do.

“I lacked confidence but now, I am trying to recover. At least Mwalala is showing trust in everyone and is pushing people to give their best shot especially when he sees what you can offer him in a game,” Kahiro said in a chat with Pulse Sports.

“I hope I will get enough playing time. If it happens, things will not be so bad. After that, goals and assists will be several this season.”

Kahiro signed for KCB from FC Talanta under the stewardship of then coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, but got injured before the season started, which made him miss the entirety of preseason. It was difficult for him to get a lot of playing time given the form of Kennedy Owino, who scored 10 league goals last season.

The lanky striker is opting not to judge himself due to the unprecedented difficult circumstances that made it difficult for him to find rhythm.

“I cannot judge myself on the last season a lot because I was plastered for two months and did not get to train during the preseason,” Kahiru added.

“I came back when the team had already gelled and it took me a long time to be fit again because players had already understood each other well.

“I lacked match sharpness that is why I struggled, but in the second leg, I was better even though I did not get enough time.”

KCB will face Kariobangi Sharks in their second match of the season on Sunday.
