Harambee Stars goalkeeper explains reason why he is living his dream playing in South Africa.

However, after a slow start to life in South Africa, Bwire who previoulsy turned up for Tusker is enjoying his football yet again after earning the trust of the technical bench that has seen his playing time increase.

Bwire, who has two caps for Harambee Stars, is keen on helping Polokwane achieve their continental ambitions.

In an interview with Mozzart Sports, the 24-year-old said: “I am enjoying football in South Africa, having adapted well. I believe we have a realistic chance of qualifying for continental football next season. It is within our reach and I am confident we will achieve.”

Polokwane are currently sixth in the 16-team league. Bwire and Polokwane boast of 31 points from 22 matches, with just eight matches left to end the season.

The Phuti Mehafe-coached side have a realistic chance of finishing in the top four considering that the gap between them and third-placed Stellenbosch is four points, making qualification for the Confederation Cup a possibility.

Polokwane have a fairly favourable run of matches to look forward to as they face Richards Bay, Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United, SuperSport United and Amazulu in their next five matches.

Brian Bwire's career has been on an upward trajectory since shooting to prominence in 2018 when he first joined Kariobangi Sharks.

After three seasons with Sharks. Bwire found the opportunity to don the Tusker colours hard-to-turn down, eventually teaming up with the Ruaraka-based side.

He secured a move to Polokwane after his two-year contract with Tusker ended.  Bwire broke into Harambee Stars setup in 2021 and made his debut against Mali in a 2022 World Cup qualifier at Nyayo Stadium.

Bwire was part of  Benni McCarthy's Harambee Stars squad for the March 2026 World Cup qualifier against The Gambia and Gabon.
