Unforgiving FKF is rightly punishing clubs that don't take safety of players seriously.

Baringo County Football Association treasurer Samson Cherop has criticized the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for what he refers to as the illegal docking of points from clubs due to a lack of equipped ambulances.

In a letter addressed to the FKF Head of Leagues and Competitions, Cherop says the process is unlawful and calls the federation to rectify the issue and give the points back to affected clubs.

“It has come to my attention and of other football stakeholders that your committee has been docking points from clubs on the basis of lack of equipped ambulance without any lawful basis as provided by the Football Kenya Federation Rules and Regulations 2019.

Article 3.1.10(1) and 3.1.10(2) as read together with other sections from 3.1.7, 3.1.8, 3.1.9 and 3.1.10 clearly indicates that the punishment being meted is for a club that has failed to honor a match and has failed to provide justifiable reasons to the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee or any other judicial body.

It is therefore clear that the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee over reached their mandate in applying article 3.1.10(1) and thus the decisions are ultra vires and travesty of justice to the affected clubs. I therefore urge the committee to relook into the issue and rectify the same by reversing the decisions and issue amended table standings accordingly.” reads the letter in part.

FKF Competitions rules requires  football clubs to provide ambulances that have advanced life support equipment with basic life support as the acceptable minimum.

National Super League side Muranga Seal are the latest club  to lose a match after they failed to provide an equipped ambulance during their match against Darajani Gogo on February 19 at St Sebastian Park.

Recently a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match pitting Vihiga Bullets against Wazito was nearly called off over the suitability of a second ambulance.

Vihiga had refused to take to the field until a better-equipped second ambulance was provided, but after match officials consultations, they eventually agreed to start the match.
