Ilkay Gundogan will be announced as a Barcelona player any moment after weeks after helping Manchester City winning an incredible treble.
Ilkay Gundogan is close to signing for Bracelona and the German midfielder will be confirmed as La Blaugrana new summer signing any moment.
The 33-year-old won the treble with Manchester City last season as his contract at the Etihad is set to expire at the end of June.
Pep Guardiola and other City teammates wished Gundogan, who was inspirational to their success last season, should sign a new deal.
Here are three reasons Gundogan is leaving Man City for Barcelona
1. To embrace a new challenge
The vastly experienced midfielder is open to a new challenge and would love to hone his skills with another top European side.
Playing for Dortmund and Man City as well as joining Barcelona is a giant step in a positive direction for the German.
2. Fulfilled Man City’s long term project
Over the years, Man City have won many titles but the Champions League trophy until they recently captured their maiden European silverware.
The oil-rich owners have invested heavily to become European champions and Gundogan was part of the process that became a success.
Being a five-time Premier League winner, twice FA Cup champion, four League Cups and the Champions League shows Gundogan was part of City’s project.
3. Barcelona have potentials
Since Xavi Hernandez became coach of Barcelona, the club’s fortunes are now heading towards a positive direction.
La Blaugrana won La Liga last season and have players that can potentially win titles for the club in Europe.
Following the departure of Sergio Busquets, Gundogan will be the new leader in the middle of the pack in the rebranded Barca side.
