Eugene Mukangula has revealed how his troubles at AFC Leopards last year led to his decline even as his quest to find a new club continues.
The midfielder, who was stripped off the captaincy in June last year in the final weeks at the den before joining Shabana, was accused of indiscipline and being at the forefront in agitating for better player welfare, a clamor that did not sit well with the management.

How Tomas Trucha is leading AFC Leopards from crisis to contenders in just one year
Since his return, Tomas Trucha has steadily transformed AFC Leopards, guiding them from a struggling side to serious contenders.
Mukangula opted for a fresh challenge, ending his five-year stint with the 13-time champions by joining Shabana, the then league returnees but it proved to be the final stroke that broke the camel's back.
Recurring injuries and lack of playing time saw the 28-year-old lose his place in the team before also quitting the Glamour Boys quietly upon the expiry of his one-year contract in the off season.
Mukangula is currently unattached, averting that things have never been the same after his untimely exit from Ingwe.
"Things have never been the same from the time I was stripped of the captaincy at Leopards. It came with a lot of ridicule and was further branded a rebel and viewed as an unfit player yet that was not the case. I would have wished to leave the club in a better way," he told SportsBoom.com.

Former Gor Mahia coach uncovers why Harambee Stars fell short against Cameroon in crucial AFCON qualifiers
Former Gor Mahia coach Bob Oyugi analyzes Harambee Stars' back-to-back defeats to Cameroon in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Mukangula had hoped to put the acrimonious fallout and exit from Leopards behind him and hit the reset button at Shabana but his stay with the Glamour Boys also did not go as planned.
"I was ready to pick up the pieces and start afresh at Shabana, but things did not go as planned. The start was good, but injuries slowed me and later cost me a place in the team. By the time I regained full fitness, the team was in a position where the head coach couldn't risk making changes as the topflight spot was at stake".
