Ronney Onyango has officially joined Sogndal Fotball with the aim of honouring his late father.
Ronney Onyango has officially been unveiled by his new club, Sogndal Fotball after they reached a final agreement with Gor Mahia FC. The agreement extends until the 2027 season.
Ronney Onyango’s future had been in the balance but he has since found a new home where he is looking forward to representing his late father.
Ronney Onyango will use an unusual shirt number to represent the date his father was born, which is also surprisingly the same date he was born, August 8.

“I chose to play with the number 88 to honour my father after he passed away. I play for him, and it feels good to have him with me on the field. I'm sure he's proud of me today,” he said after being officially unveiled.
The Harambee Stars right-back takes with him a wealth of experience after playing for clubs like Wazito FC and Gor Mahia.

At the end of February, after this year's training camp, Ronney Onyango was on a trial match for the club. Onyango sat on the bench against Lyn, started against Hødd and Stabæk, and was in the team for Ålesund.
In mid-March, Ronney Onyango moved to Kenya for Harambee Stars training camp ahead of the two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against the Gambia and Gabon.

“It's a big deal to sign a contract, and I'm very happy. I really wanted to come to Sogndal after the trial, and now I just have to keep working to get better. I'm looking forward to getting started and achieving things together with the team.”
