Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has firmly dismissed the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in September, refusing to acknowledge the game’s result as reflective of his team’s performance.
United, grappling with a challenging start to the season, faced Tottenham in a match that quickly turned sour.
Spurs took control with goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke, but it was an early controversial decision that drew the most attention.
Bruno Fernandes, United's captain, received a red card in the 42nd minute, reducing the team to 10 men.
The red card, Ten Hag argued, fundamentally altered the game, with United already trailing 1-0 at the time.

Later, however, the red card was overturned after an appeal to the Football Association (FA), a decision that Ten Hag said confirmed his stance on disregarding the game.
“No, I denied that game, ignored that game against Spurs,” Ten Hag asserted refusing to acknowledge the result as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“We were downsized to 10 with a 1-0 losing position. And then the red card was overturned. So I totally ignore that game,” he added.
Following the Tottenham loss, United’s form has been inconsistent, with the team registering three draws and one win in all competitions.
Their back-to-back 3-3 and 1-1 draws against FC Porto and Fenerbahce respectively leave them trailing in the Europa League, currently placing 21st in the standings.
Domestically, United played to a goalless draw against Aston Villa and clinched a crucial 2-1 victory over Brentford last weekend.
