Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has advised Harambee Stars to revive their 2025 AFCON qualification campaign with a good result against Cameroon on Monday.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen still has faith in Harambee Stars sealing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Kenya suffered a setback in their qualification journey when they lost 4-1 to Cameroon in Yaounde on Friday to leave them on four points, from three matches in their group, while the Indomitable Lions are top on seven as Zimbabwe occupy second spot with five.
Harambee Stars have an immediate task against their tormentors as they host Cameroon at Namboole Stadium in Kampala on Monday and Murkomen hopes that they can pull off an unlikely upset and get their campaign back on track.

Former Harambee Stars coaches call for goalkeeping changes after Patrick Matasi’s errors against Cameroon
The ex-Harambee Stars tacticians want coach Engin Firat to stick to one reliable goalkeeper in light of his recent changes and the mistakes made by Patrick Matasi against Cameroon.
“I hope we will also beat them 4-0 because we have faith in Harambee Stars that they have the capacity to fight until they qualify for Morocco,” Murkomen said on Saturday.
“I have told them to forget about Friday’s game and focus on the next match,” he added.
Kenya’s task has been made more difficult with the big loss in Cameroon but they still have a chance of sealing qualification to their first AFCON since the 2019 edition in Egypt.
A win at home to Namibia and away to Zimbabwe would leave them on 10 points and in a good position to finish second in the group and secure their place in Morocco, even if they lose again to Cameroon, but they might need favours from elsewhere to qualify.
However, an unlikely win or even a draw against Marc Brys’ side would be a massive lift in their quest to qualify for the tournament.
