Marcus Rashford scored a brace in Manchester United's 3-0 victory over Leicester City, reaching 23 goals for the season but he believes he still has room for improvement.
Marcus Rashford praised his team's performance in the win over Leicester City, saying it was a good performance in which they created many scoring chances.
Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to bring themselves back into title contention.
Manchester United back in the title race
Marcus Rashford fired the home side ahead in the 25th minute of the game before doubling their advantage in the 56th minute. Jadon Sancho capped off the scoring in the 61st minute of the game, finishing a sweeping team move.
Manchester United now trail city rivals Manchester City by three points and league leaders Arsenal by five. Rashford, the man on fire, spoke with Sky Sports about the race and their performance on the day.
Rashford believes it was a good performance overall from the team, but acknowledges David De Gea's efforts earlier in the game to keep the game level before the Red Devils sunk their teeth in.
"Overall a good day,” Rashford told Sky Sports, per the BBC.
“They created good opportunities and David made a great save at the end of the first half, without that we can't go on to win the game.”
Rashford was asked about Manchester United’s current entry into the Premier League race, and he replied by saying they were close, but admitting the difficulty of the task as the two teams ahead of them are no pushovers.
"We're close but both teams in front of us are good teams and playing good football. We have to just focus on ourselves, do as well as we can and keep picking up points."
Manchester United are still alive in all the competitions they started this season, with talks of a quadruple floating around. Rashford believes it is still too early to think about that, explaining that they take it one game at a time.
"It's still early in the season, we're fighting for a lot of different things and we have another big game in the week to hopefully go through to the next round of the Europa League and then a massive game for us [against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final].
Rashford on his form
Marcus Rashford’s brace today were his 22nd and 23rd for the season, surpassing his previous personal best of 22 goals.
Rashford is one of the most in-form players in Europe, and when asked about his current run, he answered that he wants to keep improving and has no plans of slowing down.
"I don't feel like slowing down and always want to improve."
Manchester United will play host to Barcelona in the Europa League second-leg on Thursday after picking up an impressive 2-2 draw in the first-leg.
