Arteta backs Gabriel Jesus to shine this season
The Brazilian striker, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, was a constant thorn in the side of the Leverkusen defense, making intelligent runs and snapping into challenges.
His performance was a testament to the benefits of an uninterrupted summer, following a string of injury setbacks that hindered his progress last season.
Arteta was clearly delighted with Jesus' display, saying:
"The first feeling when I saw him at the end of the season was something different. I could feel it. His energy was different. His appearance, his movement was different. And he really wanted it."
The Arsenal manager's words highlighted the significant impact that a full pre-season has had on Jesus' fitness and mindset. Arteta continued:
"He's been working incredibly hard, and it's paid off. He's looking sharper, more confident, and his movement is more fluid. He's a joy to watch."
