FKFPL ‘I can do better’ - Nairobi City Stars’ leading scorer Etemesi still hungry for more

The striker feels he can add to his tally before the season is out as Simba wa Nairobi seeks to avoid relegation.

Nairobi City Stars forward Kelvin Etemesi is confident of adding to his goal tally, having notched seven so far for Simba wa Nairobi in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).

The striker is the club’s leading scorer after featuring in 21 of their 30 league games and believes more is yet to come from him in the remaining four matches.

City Stars are bidding to avoid relegation as they occupy 15th place on the 18-team table on 30 points, seven ahead of Wazito FC, and will be counting on the likes of Etemesi to fire them to safety before the season ends.

“I first thank God for getting me this far in just my first season in the Kenyan topflight league,” Etemesi told the club’s website.

“It is every attacker’s dream to score for their club. I feel good being among the top scorers in the league and I feel I can do better and score more goals before the season comes to an end.”

Etemesi scored six goals in five games, a brace each in games against Mathare United, Posta Rangers, and Vihiga Bullets within a three-week span before adding one in a 2-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks on Matchday 26.

Three of City Stars’ last four games will test them to the limit, however, as they have AFC Leopards next before taking on title-chasing Nzoia Sugar. Nicholas Muyoti’s men will then take on FC Talanta before concluding the season with a tough match against Gor Mahia.

Simba wa Nairobi could be the kingmakers in the title race given Tusker FC and Gor are separated at the top by just one point and if they maintain the same gap until the season finale, then the game against K’Ogalo could decide the destiny of the league crown.
