Napoli's Serie A title is imminent, but how soon should they book a trophy tour bus to celebrate?
Italian side Napoli edged closer to a first Serie A title since the 1990 season after Sunday’s win over Juventus and could soon be crowned Serie A champions if things go their way.
Napoli maintain 17-point advantage in Serie A
The side from Naples secured three points in a dramatic finale against Juventus that saw them move 17 points clear of the chasing pack in Serie A headed by Lazio.
A stoppage-time goal from forward Giacomo Raspadori was enough for Napoli to claim a deserved victory over Juventus which has set them up with the possibility of being crowned Serie A champions as early as next weekend in Game Week 32.
Napoli currently have 78 points and hold a healthy lead over Lazio with only seven matches to go in the season.
The 17-point gap between the two sides at the top end of the table means that if Napoli beat their next weekend’s opponents Salernitana, they will be crowned champions of the 2022/23 season, as long as Lazio drop points in their corresponding fixture against sixth-pace Inter who are still chasing a spot in the Serie A season’s top four to ensure the qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Napoli eye league title with Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia hitting the form
The form of all the teams involved suggests that Napoli could indeed win the league as early as this weekend to crown an exceptional league season that has seen them become the darling of many neutrals.
Napoli have Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to thank for their success, as well as other key individuals in the team who have contributed immensely to a possible league triumph for Napoli.
Osimhen has scored 21 of Napoli’s 67 goals in Serie A this season, while Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has assisted 10 goals during the campaign.
The attacking duo are the face of the Napoli attack and could become the face of a Napoli title as early as ext week.
