Benni McCarthy reveals how he helped Marcus Rashford
McCarthy opened up on his approach during his time at Old Trafford.
"He's pure heart and he's Manchester United through and through," The FC Porto icon revealed in an interview with The United Stand on X.
"I think with me because I wasn't going 'Ohh Rashy!' – he was Marcus to me – I was straight to the point and he respected that, instead of me sweet-talking him."
McCarthy's no-nonsense approach resonated with Rashford, who appreciated the coach's authenticity.
"I was a straight shooter, and he probably didn't have enough people in his life that were straight with him.
"Everyone tells him what he needs to hear, and what he wants to hear, because of who he is, but I was normal, and he appreciated that."
