Jamal, 28, who put up an individual solid display, picking up 11 clean sheets in as many games, coming second to Ronwen Williams at Mamelodi Sundowns with 18, has revealed being first choice was a huge motivator for him.
Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal has opened up on what inspired his performance at Richards Bay FC last season in the Dstv Premiership.
Jamal, 28, who put up an individual solid display, picking up 11 clean sheets in as many games, coming second to Ronwen Williams at Mamelodi Sundowns with 18, has revealed being first choice was a huge motivator for him.
"Being number one helped me gain the confidence of players; I then got the energy and motivation to keep working hard and perform well," Salim noted in an interview with Supersport TV.
"The more hard work in training, the easier things become because training matters a lot in preparation; you've got to be organized at the end of the day," he added.
Jamal's former head coach at Richards Bay FC last season, Vasili Manousakis, who signed him and trusted him, is full of praise for the former Express FC, KCCA FC, and Al Merrikh shot-stopper.
