FOOTBALL History as LALIGA announce first ever football camps in Kenya

17:11 - 25.07.2023

The LALIGA Camps will give 120 promising under-10 to under-17 girls and boys footballers access to world-class LALIGA coaching.

After successful camps in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the popular LALIGA Camps will be held in Kenya, from 14th to 20th August 2023.

The LALIGA Camps will give 120 promising under-10 to under-17 girls and boys footballers access to world-class LALIGA coaching and will be held in partnership with AIRFC Football Academy.

Jose Angel Garcia Ruiz and Jose Ignacio Sanchez Becerra, two UEFA Pro Licenced LALIGA coaches will lead the Camps, assisted by five local coaches.

The LALIGA Camps will focus on giving talented young footballers from Kenya insight into the tactical, technical, physical, and psychological aspects needed to perform at the highest level in world football.

An important objective of the Camps, with its special focus on developing youth football, and under the LALIGA Methodology, is to give disadvantaged youth from all over the country - who would not ordinarily have access to the opportunity – the chance to be coached by top LALIGA coaches.

AIRFC in collaboration with LALIGA will sponsor the participation of 60 deserving very talented young footballers coming from underprivileged backgrounds, with the aim of giving them the exposure and opportunity they deserve.

“After very successful camps in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Cairo, and Durban, we are delighted to be bringing the LALIGA Camps to Nairobi for the very first time. I believe this can be the beginning of a great long-term collaboration strengthening the links between Spanish and Kenyan football.

"Our top coaches are coming to share their knowledge with local coaches and the kids. Also, it is equally crucial for us to instill the right values and positive habits to ensure their success both on and off the field. Football, from our perspective, must serve to foster well-rounded and respectful individuals, promoting holistic development,” said Marcos Pelegrin, Managing Director for LALIGA in Africa.

“We are very happy to launch this exclusive partnership with LALIGA in East Africa to host their inaugural Camp in East Africa here in Kenya. Along with being able to provide the highest quality football training to the young Kenyan players, we will also be able to display the talent that exists in Kenyan football.

"It is imperative to continually give our young aspiring footballers these types of opportunities for them to develop their confidence and determination towards playing professional football,” said Jameel Samji, Director, AIRFC Football Academy
