Rangers manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst has praised Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo ahead of his possible switch to the English Premier League.
Reflecting on his one season in charge of Aribo, Van Bronkhorst praised the Super Eagles playmaker for his contributions to the club. "What he's done for this club has been fantastic," Van Bronkhorst said.
Aribo, who joined the Scottish side in 2019, shone at times for Rangers last season, playing 57 matches and finishing the season with 19 goal involvements.
Van Bronkhorst praised Aribo as one of his most valued assets but accepts that the player has reached a stage where he has to follow his ambitions.
"Joe is a very important player for us. His development has been really good and that's what you want as a club, to get talented players, develop them into really good players and eventually the player has their ambitions." Van Bronkhorst said to Sky Sports.
As per The Athletic, Southampton is interested in signing Aribo and is willing to part with the reported £12m required to secure his signature. A tireless midfielder with elite composure, the Super Eagles midfielder would fit perfectly in Ralph Hassenhutl's side.
Should Aribo move to St. Mary's Stadium, he will join a host of other players of Nigerian descent like Gavin Bazunu, who recently signed from Manchester City and Nathan Tella, the pacey winger who has spent his whole career at Southampton.
