Former Napoli and Italy striker Guiseppe Savoldi showered praises on Victor Osimhen
Former Napoli striker Guiseppe Savoldi has spoken positively about Victor Osimhen, hailing the Nigerian striker for his performances this season.
Osimhen has been having the season of his life with 16 goals in 17 Serie A games so far, putting him on course to win Capocannoniere and earning him the plaudits of all and sundry.
One of his biggest admirers is Savoldi who played for multiple clubs including Napoli, Atalanta and Bologna as well as the Italian national team.
Guiseppe Savoldi hails Osimhen's heading ability
Savoldi scored 230 career goals and was revered for his ability to head the ball which is something he admires in Osimhen as well.
“Did I see myself again in Osimhen’s header against Spezia? Well a little, but the Nigerian is very good,” Savoldi said according to Tutto Napoli.
“He knows how to find the perfect timing for the headers. He has great elevation, it didn’t surprise me, we’re used to these goals by now," Savoldi said in an assessment of Osimhen.
Savoldi offers Osimhen advice
The 76-year-old further complimented Osimhen's style of play while also offering him advice on how to become better.
“Osimhen has incredible qualities, he manages to break evenly, a rare thing. He’s already a complete striker, he has good technique, and speed, he has time in the header," Savoldi said.
The Italian rounded up saying, “He can still improve in the game with his back to goal when the opponents rely on him. “He’s still very young he can only get better, he will become one of the strongest in the world.”
Svoldi played four games for the Italian national team and scored 77 goals in 162 appearances for Napoli in his career.
