A Napoli director has provided a key update on Victor Osimhen's future at the club.

A Napoli director has confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen has 'asked to leave the club' and 'wants to go' in a sensational revelation.

The future of the Nigerian forward has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks, with the 25-year-old African Footballer of the Year making it clear he wanted to end his relationship with the Serie A giants.

Napoli to sort out Osimhen's future

Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli, but the club slapped a staggering £110million release clause on the deal, putting off some of his potential suitors.

A move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain was reportedly in the works, but that deal collapsed as the Ligue 1 side are not in the market for a new striker.

Two months have passed since the end of last season, and Osimhen is still a Napoli player, with no clear end in sight for the future of the in-demand forward.

However, in a bombshell admission, Napoli director Manna has now revealed that Osimhen has openly stated his desire to leave the club.

'Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club. He wants to go,' Manna said according to a post from Fabrizio Romano.

'The situation is clear, there were already chances for his exit last summer... Victor wants to leave.'
