Former England international Rio Ferdinand has praised the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager, as England's new manager.
According to Sky Germany, Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract with the Football Association (FA) that will begin on January 1.
An official announcement is anticipated as early as Wednesday, following a press conference set for 1:30 PM at Wembley.
The development comes after rapid progress in negotiations between Tuchel and the FA on Tuesday.

Ferdinand has described Tuchel as a 'serial winner', emphasizing that he is well-suited to lead England back to success.
“What an appointment. I think we (England) were looking for someone with a strong winning track record, and he certainly fits that bill,” the Manchester United legend stated on his podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents.
“He is a manager who knows how to win, has coached at the highest levels, and has the experience to unite a group of players to achieve victory.”
Tuchel boasts extensive elite-level experience, having led Chelsea to Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup titles between January 2021 and September 2022.
The 51-year-old is also a two-time Ligue 1 champion with Paris Saint-Germain, where he guided the team to the French Cup and the Champions League final against Bayern in August 2022, though they lost 1-0.
In his most recent role as Bayern Munich's head coach, he secured a league title during the 2022/23 season.
