Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has defended coach Ken Kenyatta, tipping him to deliver the league title despite a poor start to the new season.

The 2023 FKF Cup winners have failed to register a win in the four league matches played.

Surprisingly, Homeboyz lost 3-0 in their opening match against debutants Mara Sugar before salvaging a point in the goalless draw against Mathare United.

A 2-2 draw with Tusker was followed by a 1-0 loss against Kariobangi Sharks, putting the team under spotlight but Shimanyula has assured Kenyatta that his job is secure.

"He's still familiarizing himself with the Homeboyz environment and culture. It was obvious that it would take time to start getting good results. He has our support and trust to turn our run round," Shimanyula told Sportsboom.

Homeboyz turned to the services of former Kenyan International as a replacement of Patrick Odhiambo who traded the Kakamega-based side for KCB.

Shimanyula termed Kenyatta an experienced tactician, who had demonstrated the ability to get positive results in his past workstations and remained hopeful of hitting the ground running soon.

He bemoaned the team's poor luck but remained optimistic that they will reap the fruits of patience very soon.

"We have been unlucky in our matches despite playing well and creating chances. I'm confident we will catch up with the top teams on the log within a short time. Our goal remains winning the league and recapturing the Mozzeart Bet Cup," added Shimanyula.
