Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has incurred the wrath of Chelsea fans following his reported move to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Fans of London-based club Chelsea have expressed their displeasure with Napoli star striker Victor Osimhen after he sealed a loan move to Galatasaray.

The 25-year-old was approached by Chelsea, who flew in a delegation that included co-owner Behdad Eghbali to Naples to try and convince Victor Osimhen to sign for the Stamford Bridge outfit on transfer deadline day.

However, Chelsea were unsuccessful in their approach, as multiple reports stated that the Blues could not match Osimhen’s wage demands.

In the wake of the failed transfer to Chelsea and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, who were also interested in the player, Napoli froze Osimhen out of their first-team squad, with coach Antonio Conte stating that the Nigerian striker is not in his plans

Meanwhile, in a sudden twist of events, Napoli found a solution for Osimhen, who led the club to end a 33-year wait for a Scudetto, scoring 26 goals in 32 games during the 2022/2023 season.

Napoli agreed to loan Osimhen to Türkiye Süper Lig outfit until the end of the 2024/2025 season, with no obligation to buy; Galatasaray will cover a large chunk of his salary and every party is happy.

Fans of Chelsea FC have not taken the new development kindly. They blame Osimhen for rejecting the chance to play in an attractive league like the English Premier League.

Many of them accused the Napoli man of being driven by greed after he refused to take a pay cut to join Chelsea.

Here are some of the reactions:

Final thoughts

Would anyone blame Osimhen? Galatasaray offers more money in addition to the allure of playing in Europe’s second-tier competition, the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Chelsea FC will have dates with unknown sides like Noah and Shamrock Rovers in the Conference League.
