Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and Timothy Ouma are set to return boosting Kenya’s lineup for the crucial AFCON qualifier.

Harambee Stars are set to play their third 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group J qualifier against Cameroon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7pm East African Time (EAT) with Stars eyeing another crucial win after a 2-1 victory over Namibia in their previous fixture, played in Kampala.

Between the goalposts, Bryne Omondi is poised to take charge of the goalkeeping duties as the Bandari's gloves man has shown great composure and sharp reflexes in previous matches and he will be keen to maintain a solid performance against a strong Cameroonian attack.

On the defensive flanks, the left-back position is likely to be anchored by the dependable Eric Ouma.

Ouma has become a dependable figure in Kenya’s defense with his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively.

His pace and vision make him a key player on the left flank, and his consistent form will be crucial as Kenya faces the Indomitable Lions.

On the opposite side, Daniel Ayembe is expected to retain his place at right-back.

The heart of the defense will most likely be marshaled by Joseph Okumu, who has established himself as a formidable center-back.

Alongside Okumu, Collins Sichenje is expected to either join him in central defense or operate as a deep-lying midfielder, depending on the tactical setup employed by Firat.

Sichenje’s versatility makes him a valuable asset, offering both defensive solidity and the ability to initiate attacks from the back.

In the midfield, Kenya is expected to rely on the partnership of Teddy Akumu and Richard Odada.

Both players bring a blend of defensive cover and playmaking ability, forming a solid foundation in the middle of the park.

Further up the field, Rooney Onyango is likely to be deployed on the wing, offering width and pace to the Kenyan attack.

Timothy Ouma, who missed the Namibia game, is expected to return to the starting lineup, providing creativity and attacking flair.

Duke Abuya is also expected to play a vital role in the attacking midfield, linking up play and creating opportunities for the forwards.

Upfront, captain Michael Olunga, who was also absent in the previous game, is poised to spearhead the attack.

Harambee Stars probable starting XI: Bryne Omondi-, Erick Ouma, Joseph Okumu, Collins Sichenje, Daniel Anyembe -Anthony Akumu, Rooney Onyango, Richard Odada, Timothy Ouma, Duke Abuya -Michael Olunga
