Djed Spence's Tottenham face a daunting period that could ultimately shape the success of their campaign.

Kenyan and England dual-national Djed Spence faces the drum in a season-defining period with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spence’s Tottenham have been sub-par this season placing on the bottom-half of the Premier League log.

On Sunday the side managed a 3-1 win over Southampton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Spence starting at left-back.

The defender assisted Brennan Johnson’s opener as he netted a brace before Southampton pulled one back through Mateus Fernandes in stoppage time only for Mathys Tel to make it 3-1 before the final whistle.

Sunday’s performance against Southampton embodied Spence’s brilliance for Tottenham this season.

After a rocky start to life at Tottenham, Spence has established himself as a mainstay in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI.

At some point Spence’s future with Tottenham was in doubt with two loan stints to Leeds and Genoa.

However, a turnaround in form has seen Spence’s fortune at Tottenham take a turn for the better with the full-back even being nominated for the Player of The Month for February.

Spence’s upturn in form however does not reflect that of his club, who find themselves flirting dangerously with lack of European football next season.

Currently placing 14th with 37 points, Tottenham find themselves far from securing European football next season via league position.

The side however has another path via the Europa League.

Djed Spence’s Tottenham face German side Frankfurt in the quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday.

It is a season-defining period for Spence and Tottenham with the full-back expressing optimism ahead of the clash.

“Important 3 points today 🅰️ Let’s take this momentum into Thursday🤍. Big week ahead 🤲🏾 #GODSPEED,” wrote Spence on Instagram on the back of the Southampton win.

The two-legged tie against Frankfurt presents an opportunity for Tottenham to not only further their ambition for a trophy but forge a path to the Champion League as well.

With Spence in form and Tottenham reeling off the Southampton win they will hope to secure a much-needed advantage against Frankfurt before the second leg in Germany.
