Harambee Stars new look is in the hands of Kenyan with FKF launching a jersey design competition for the national football teams.

The future look of the Harambee Stars and Kenya's national football teams is now in the hands of ordinary citizens, following an exciting new initiative by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

In a bold and inclusive move, FKF has launched a nationwide jersey design competition, giving Kenyans the unique opportunity to craft the next look of their beloved national teams.

Running from Tuesday, April 1 to Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the competition will see participants create designs that reflect Kenya’s cultural identity and national pride.

Contestants have been encouraged to incorporate key cultural and national elements, while staying true to the primary colors of Kenya’s flag of Black, White, Red, and Green.

These colors are not only symbolic but hold a deep connection to the country’s heritage and unity.

As per FKF, an independent committee will be tasked with reviewing all submissions and selecting the top three standout designs with the winners receiving cash prizes of up to Kshs150,000.

The winning designs will become the official property of the FKF and will be considered for use as the official kits of Kenya’s national teams.

This initiative comes on the heels of last year’s unveiling, where the Harambee Stars donned kits that boldly displayed the country’s colors of white, black, green, and red to mixed public reception.

The jersey competition also comes at a pivotal moment for Kenyan football when the national team is preparing for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to take place this August in a landmark tri-nation collaboration between Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Before the CHAN tournament, Kenya still faces a tough road in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Fixtures remain against Gambia, Seychelles, Burundi, and the formidable Ivory Coast.

While Kenya’s chances of qualifying are now slim, with Ivory Coast leading Group F with 16 points and Kenya trailing with six, head coach Benni McCarthy will be aiming to finish strong and lay the groundwork for future success.
