Timothy Ouma shone in midfield as Elfsborg grabbed a dominant 3-1 win over Mjallby in the Swedish league.

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma was in fine form as IF Elfsborg claimed a win against Mjalby in a Swedish top flight division clash on Sunday.

Ouma, who has been playing as a central midfielder at club level this season, looked the part and walked the walk throughout. He made four accurate long balls and one successful dribble with an 80 per cent pass completion ratio.

He has now put himself in the right shape ahead of Elsfsborg’s clash against Sherrif Tiraspor in their first leg encounter on Tuesday, with the side hoping to qualify for the playoff rounds of the UEFA Europa League.

Elfsborg got off to a dream start when Terry Yegbe hit a perfect pass down the left side to a running Jalal Abdullai. The striker made his way into the penalty area and confidently slotted the ball home, giving Elfsborg the lead after just 25 seconds of play.

A cross from the right found a Mjallby player who placed the ball low at the fast post, equalising the score at 1-1 in the 27th minute.

Following this, the visitors had more possession and created several chances, including a shot that hit the post after 32 minutes.

However, Elfsborg managed to clear the attack attempts and calm the game down. In the 42nd minute, Sebastian Holmén delivered a perfect ball behind the visitors' backline. Jalal Abdullai took the ball sideways and scored, giving Elfsborg a 2-1 lead just before the break.

As the second half got underway, Jalal Abdullai continued to be at the center of the action. In the 46th minute, the striker took a hard shot just outside the penalty area, narrowly missing the crossbar.

Minutes later, Per Frick headed the ball into the corner from a corner kick, and Sebastian Holmen extended the team's lead with a distinct header in the 51st minute, making it 3-1 for Elfsborg.

With a two-goal lead, IF Elfsborg defended well. The visitors had more possession and attempted to attack through their edges with longer balls behind the Elfsborg backline. The middle part of the second half was fairly uneventful.

After five additional minutes of play, the match concluded, and IF Elfsborg secured three important points with a well-deserved victory.
