Marcelo has been on song for Polish outfit Rakow Czestochowa, scoring once and assisting thrice in 17 games this season.

Harambee Stars defender Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements, clinching Raków Czestochowa's Player of the Month award for December.

The 28-year-old left-wing back has been pivotal for the Polish giants, showcasing outstanding form since his arrival in January 2024 from Swedish side AIK.

Ouma has seamlessly adapted to coach Marek Papszun’s dynamic 3-4-3 system, thriving in the left-wing back role. His efforts have propelled Raków to second place in the Ekstraklasa with 36 points. Before the winter break, the club remained unbeaten in four matches, with Ouma contributing two assists. Over 17 games, he has scored once and assisted three times, solidifying his status as a crucial asset to the team.

Ouma's football journey began at Kakamega High School, with his breakout year coming in 2016 when he dazzled fans at Gor Mahia, earning their admiration as a reliable defender. After honing his skills in Sweden with AIK, his move to Raków has been marked by consistency and growth.

Reflecting on his achievements, Ouma credited the team's unity for their success:"What keeps us together is the unity in the team. We’re ready to face anyone, and we work hard every day to win, regardless of the opponent."

Ouma’s connection with his Kenyan supporters remains unwavering, even as he shines on the European stage. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering belief in him:

"It's amazing. I've grown with the Kenyan fans; they’ve watched me since I was young and just starting. Their support keeps me going, and it’s incredible to know that even when I’m abroad, people back home still believe in me."

As Raków Czestochowa aims to reclaim the Ekstraklasa title and secure European competition spots, Ouma’s influence will undoubtedly be central to their ambitions. His December Player of the Month honor underscores his growing stature as one of Kenya’s most accomplished football exports.
