Kenya has learned their opponents for the first round of the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers after the draw conducted at CAF headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday afternoon.

Harambee Stars will begin their 2024 CHAN Qualifiers with an away game against South Sudan in the first round following a draw conducted in Egypt on Wednesday.

The CHAN competition is designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.

Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will host the uniquely designed CAF competition in their respective countries between 01 – 28 February 2025.

A total of 40 nations will be engaged in the draw to determine the first of two rounds of qualifiers to determine the final teams that will qualify for the eighth edition of the tournament.

The first round of qualifiers will be played on the weekend of 25 – 27 October and 01 – 03 November 2024, with the second round confirmed for 20 – 22 December and 27 – 29 December 2024.

Should Harambee Stars triumph over South Sudan they will face the winner between Djibouti and Rwanda in the second round of qualifiers.

Beyond CECAFA, the rest of the continent promises some thrilling encounters in the quest for CHAN qualification.

West African heavyweights Ghana and Nigeria are set to face off in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Côte d'Ivoire will battle Burkina Faso in a fixture that will test both sides' tactical prowess.

In the WAFU A region, Sierra Leone will take on Liberia in the first round, with the winner earning a chance to face Senegal, one of the strongest sides in African football.

Mauritania is set to square off against Mali, while Guinea will clash with Guinea-Bissau in another exciting tie.

In the southern part of the continent, Zimbabwe will face Eswatini, while Lesotho goes head-to-head with Namibia.
