Harambee Stars will likely have a new coach this week following revelations that Football Kenya Federation has identified the man set to take over from Engin Firat.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is likely to unveil the new Harambee Stars coach before the end of this week.
Harambee Stars have been without a coach since Engin Firat ended his three-year tenure by handing in his resignation last week, leaving the Hussein Mohammed-led FKF with the task of finding a replacement.
Now, the federation seems to have narrowed down to its targets and with all indications pointing to a foreign coach who will be assisted by a technical bench made up of Kenyan tacticians.

Harambee Stars legend sets one condition that Kenya’s next coach must meet
The former Kenyan midfielder has given his opinion on what candidates seeking to replace Engin Firat as Harambee Stars coach need to have before being considered for the job.
“The FKF president has been in Morocco for the CAF General Assembly and CAF 2024 Awards and he will return to the country on Thursday after which the process of appointing a new coach will be expedited,” a source who sought anonymity told Pulse Sports.
“It has been an inclusive process where everyone one among the top brass is involved and not a one-man decision. They are looking at a foreign coach who is comfortably being assisted by a Kenyan,” added the source.
The identity of the new coach is yet to be known but Pulse Sports understands it is a tactician with an understanding of African football.
A number of Kenyan coaches had already put themselves in the frame for the vacant position with Ken Odhiambo, who served as one of Firat’s assistants, and ex-Ushuru tactician Ken Kenyatta explaining why they were fit for the role.
A section of Kenyan fans have also expressed admiration for the national U20 coach Salim Babu, who recently left Kenya Police and also impressed at Nzoia Sugar, while the name of Francis Kimanzi was also mentioned.
It looks now that one of them will work under the new man in the dugout with his first assignment being the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) which Kenya will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
