Before the injury, Waweru made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven league goals and contributing three more in cup competitions. His performances cemented his position as a key figure for Sligo Rovers, earning him this extended deal.

"I'm really happy to get the deal done. The year didn’t end as I hoped, but the surgery went well, and I’m looking forward to recovering and getting back to playing. It’s a slow process, but I’ll get there."
