Zak Vyner and Vincent Harper were both on song for their clubs in England, with both Harambee Stars prospects instrumental in making sure they ended 2024 on a high note.

Harambee Stars prospect Zak Vyner played a pivotal role as Bristol City stormed to an emphatic 3-0 win over Portsmouth in a Championship fixture on Sunday afternoon.

Vyner, who remains unavailable for Kenya due to unresolved documentation issues, featured prominently on the right side of a back three. The defender delivered a composed performance, ensuring Portsmouth's attack posed minimal threat throughout the encounter.

The Robins were in scintillating form, led by the dazzling display of Anis Mehmeti. The Albanian forward scored twice in the first half, helping Bristol City wrap up the match within 20 minutes of their opening goal. Max Bird provided the assist for Mehmeti’s first, with the forward coolly slotting the ball past Portsmouth's goalkeeper.

City doubled their lead soon after, as Nahki Wells delivered a perfect cross from the left for Mehmeti to sweep home. Moments later, defender Rob Dickie reacted swiftly to tap in from close range following a saved header by Luke McNally, effectively ending any hope of a Portsmouth comeback.

Vincent Harper inspires Exeter City in dramatic 4-4 draw

Over in League One, Vincent Harper delivered a standout performance as Exeter City mounted an extraordinary comeback to draw 4-4 with Crawley Town at St James Park.

Harper, who earned a call up to the Harambee Stars squad back in October 2023 before their friendly match against Russia, was instrumental as Exeter clawed their way back from a 4-1 deficit. Operating as a left wing-back, he scored a stunning goal and provided a crucial assist in a match that epitomised resilience.

Crawley took a commanding lead with goals from Panutche Camara, Will Swan, Tola Showunmi, and Armando Quitirna, leaving Exeter with a mountain to climb.

Harper’s brilliant curling effort in the 60th minute kickstarted the fightback, followed by goals from Ryan Woods and Demitri Mitchell in a breathtaking finale.

The draw showcased Exeter’s determination and moved them a step closer to solidifying their mid-table position in League One.

In League Two, Clarke Oduor made a substitute appearance for Bradford City as they secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Chesterfield. The visitors initially led through Armando Dobra, but Bradford fought back with goals from Bobby Pointon and Antoni Sarcevic to maintain their unbeaten streak in four of their last five games.

Bradford’s spirited display reaffirmed their push for promotion as they capitalised on a robust second-half performance to take all three points at home.
