Harambee Stars defender Zak Vyner helped inspire Bristol City to an inspired comeback against Stoke City.

Harambee Stars defender Zak Vyner delivered another commanding performance as Bristol City fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium in the Championship.

Vyner, who was instrumental in their previous draw against Middlesbrough, continued his fine form with a solid defensive display, registering four clearances, as well as multiple tackles, blocks, and interceptions. The defender also came close to scoring, hitting the woodwork with a shot that could have given Bristol the lead.

In a thrilling contest, Stoke City took early control with two quick goals inside the first 15 minutes. Lewis Koumas, on loan from Liverpool, opened the scoring with an acrobatic finish after Eric Bocat’s deep cross. Shortly after, Andrew Moran doubled the lead, capitalizing on a pass from Million Manhoef after a well-executed advantage call by referee David Webb.

Despite the deficit, Bristol City had their chances in the first half, creating 18 shots and earning 10 corners. Stoke goalkeeper Viktor Johansson was kept busy, making a stunning save to deny Max Bird’s powerful strike.

The second half saw Bristol City come out stronger. Within five minutes of the restart, Nakhi Wells pulled one back, tapping in unmarked at the back post following a well-placed corner from Joe Williams. Wells then added his second just two minutes later, taking advantage of a fortunate ricochet off Stoke defender Michael Rose to score from close range.

Both teams had opportunities to snatch a winner, with Johansson making another brilliant double save in the 69th minute, denying efforts from George Earthy and Mark Sykes. Despite the pressure, neither side could find a decisive goal, and the match ended with both teams sharing the points.

Bristol City’s draw extends their unbeaten run to six games, although four of those have been stalemates. Stoke City, on the other hand, have now drawn three consecutive matches.

The game marked another absence for Bristol City manager Liam Manning, who is currently on leave following the tragic passing of his baby son, Theo. Assistant Chris Hogg once again took charge of the team.

For Vyner, his standout performance adds to his growing reputation as a key figure in the Bristol City defense, further underlining his value to the side.
