Harambee Stars left-back Aboud Omar has revealed what his teammates need to do if they are to overcome the monumental challenge of facing Ivory Coast in Malawi on matchday four of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Kenya will be facing the reigning Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions in Malawi on June 11, four days after they play Burundi at the Bingu Stadium.
Ivory Coast are high on confidence ever since delivering AFCON victory on home soil, but Omar remains unfazed on the prospect of facing them, believing that Kenya can beat them if they embrace one crucial value.

According to Omar, Fae instilled a sense of togetherness and unity within the group, something he believes Kenya too must embrace if they are to overcome them.
“If you look, Ivory Coast struggled to perform at the group stages of the last AFCON because they lacked unity, but right now, they are united especially given their knockout stage run that resulted in them winning the trophy," he added.
“Their performance may not have been spectacular. That shows you that it is difficult to predict these kinds of things. Whoever turns up better on the day gets all the points.”
Omar has made reference to the 2019 AFCON qualifiers, where Kenya upset Ghana under Sebastian Migne, challenging his teammates to draw inspiration from that game.
“We played against Ghana in 2018 and we beat them here, so we want to win. We will give it our best shot and leave the rest to God," assured Omar.
