Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat had his wish granted as his team’s next opponents Namibia were beaten by Cameroon on Saturday ahead of next week’s meeting with Kenya.

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has been granted his wish after Cameroon beat Namibia in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

The Indomitable Lions rose about their pre-match drama to silence the Brave Warriors with veteran striker Vincent Aboubakar scoring the lone goal as they won 1-0.

It leaves Cameroon top of Group J with three points while Kenya and Zimbabwe are on one apiece after their goalless draw on Friday.

It is the result Firat had wanted after claiming a win for Cameroon would make Kenya’s work ‘easier’ when they face Namibia in their second group match on Tuesday.

“If they (Namibia) lose to Cameroon, I’m sure they’ll play more offensively and this will make everything for us more…I can’t say easier…. we can play more easier our game,” Firat said after his side’s draw with Zimbabwe.

The tactician’s view is that Namibia will play an open game in search of goals on Tuesday which will allow Harambee Stars to take advantage.

It remains to be seen if that will be the case but Kenya will have to be at their best in the match, which will be played in South Africa, if they want to get a positive result as Namibia, even though they lost to group favourites Cameroon, are no pushovers after making it to the Round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
