Kenyan football star bids farewell to her former club and heads to India's Women Premier League, promising success.

Kenyan striker Bertha Adhiambo Omita has bid farewell to her former club Vihiga Queens and embarked on an exciting new journey with Sethu FC in India.

This transfer comes just days after Omita's departure from the four-time FKF Women Premier League champion, and it promises to be a fresh start filled with goals, glory, and a whole lot of swagger on the field.

Bertha Omita is no stranger to the Indian Women Premier League having previously donned the colors of Gokulam Kerala.

Her impressive track record includes clinching the coveted Golden Boot award in the 2019 Kenyan Women's Premier League while playing for Vihiga Queens.

Moreover, she boasts the title of former Tanzania Women's Premier League champion with Simba Queens, adding even more prestige to her illustrious career.

Sethu FC wasted no time in expressing their enthusiasm over their new acquisition, stating in a press release.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kenyan striker Bertha Adhiambo Omita to the Sethu FC family. Get ready for goals, glory, and a whole lot of swagger on the field. Welcome to the Sethu FC family, Bertha."

In a heartfelt message to her fans and her former club, Omita shared her gratitude and fond memories of her time with Vihiga Queens.

"Today I say goodbye to this magnificent club, Vihiga Queens Football CLUB. I want to thank the club for allowing me to showcase my talent locally and in East Africa. I want to wish you the very best in your remaining matches. Play them as legacy makers," she wrote.

She did not forget to extend her appreciation to her loyal supporters, adding, "To my true and loyal fans, thank you for the continued support you've shown me throughout my career. Let's continue growing together in this journey."

Bertha Omita, an English teacher by profession, brings a wealth of experience to Sethu FC.

Her journey through Kenyan football has seen her play for renowned teams such as Wadadia, Kisumu All Starlets, and Oserian Ladies.

Notably, Sethu FC was previously home to Elizabeth Katungwa, who has now ventured overseas to join Greek club Athlitiki Enosi Larisas (AEL).

Katungwa's stellar performances for Indian Women Premier League champions Kickstart FC in the previous season made her an international sensation after leaving Sethu.
