Guardiola eclipses Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester City clinch four titles in a row with West Ham win

Despite a stunning goal from Mohammed Kudus, Manchester City held on to win their fouth Premier League title in a row

Manchester City claimed their fourth consecutive Premier League trophy after a routine 3-1 win over West Ham to seal the title on the final day and beat Arsenal to the punch.

Spanish gaffer Pep Guardiola also became the first manager in Premier League history to win four titles in a row, eclipsing the record set by Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson who won three consecutive titles.

Premier League Player of the Year Phil Foden scored an early brilliant brace while Rodri clinched the victory with a third goal in the second half to settle nerves after Mohammed Kudus had pulled one back for West Ham. 

How it happened

Knowing that they had their destiny in their own hands, Manchester City got off to the perfect start against West Ham as Foden opened the scoring for the home side after only two minutes to set the tone for the rest of the match.

The England international soon made it 2-0 to Manchester City with a stunning effort to put the champions-elect 2-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Ghanaian midfielder Kudus put some life back into the title race with an incredible overhead kick to pull one back for West Ham going into the half-time break.

Spanish midfielder Rodri was on hand to extend Manchester City's lead on the hour mark to make the three points certain for the champions.

The win for Manchester City secured a fourth consecutive title for the Cityzens as they finished on 91 points, two points ahead of chasing Arsenal, who also won their final game of the season against Everton.
