Kogalo's CECAFA Kagame Cup opponents are in talks with a new coach to lead a strategic and competitive rebuild.

Record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia could face a team in transition in their upcoming CECAFA Kagame Cup tournament if they are grouped with Tanzanian giants Simba SC, who are actively searching for a new head coach.

The Tanzanian giants are on a quest to replace Algerian tactician Abdelhak Benchikha following a series of rapid coaching changes that has seen the club appoint six different coaches since 2020.

The Dar es Salaam-based club has been linked with several high-profile names as they aim to stabilize their coaching situation.

Recent reports indicate a keen interest in Fadlu Davids, currently the assistant coach at Raja Athletic Club.

Davids is coming off a successful season, having helped secure the Botola Pro league title in an undefeated campaign alongside head coach Josef Zinnbauer.

Simba SC's board is reportedly impressed by Davids’ achievements and views his profile as fitting for a young, modern coach who could spearhead a new project.

This interest comes despite a recent shift in their management dynamics.

“Steve Komphela held an interview with Simba earlier this month, however, the board member who facilitated the initial interest, has since resigned which has seen the club’s interest cool down in recent weeks," South African publication IDiski reported.

The timing of this search is crucial as Simba SC prepares for the high-stakes CECAFA Kagame Cup, where they will clash with Gor Mahia, among other teams.

The potential appointment of a new coach could give Simba the strategic edge they need to excel in the tournament.

Simba's pursuit of a new coach is part of a broader strategy to maintain dominance in African football.

The club’s frequent changes in the coaching role have mirrored their fluctuating performances on the field.
