It is the second time an arranged friendly match between both sides has been abandoned this year.

Gor Mahia’s proposed friendly match against Azam FC of Tanzania has been canceled for the second time.

This is seemingly following the decision by FKF to hit the 20-time FKFPL champions with hefty sanctions after some of their fans damaged sections of the Kasarani Stadium following their 0-0 draw with Murang’a Seal last Saturday.

K'Ogalo had organized this friendly to provide their head coach Johnathan McKinstry with a valuable opportunity to assess the players in camp.

The sides were to take part in a friendly back in March, but the game was also canceled.

This preparation match was to come a week after the league took a brief break to accommodate the FIFA calendar, allowing players not called to the national teams to recharge and regroup for upcoming challenges.

Gor Mahia currently sit in second place on the league table, and they have a crucial match against Muhoroni Youth scheduled for Sunday, November 26 when the league resumes.

In addition to their domestic commitments, Gor Mahia has also contributed to the national team, Harambee Stars, by sending two of their players to the squad.

Rooney Onyango and Benson Omala are currently on international duty, nursing the wounds of a 2-1 loss to Gabon on Thursday, before facing Seychelles next Monday.

It remains to bee seen what match Gor Mahia have lined up to substitute the game that has now been withdrawn.
