Gor Mahia have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kasarani land intended for the construction of their home stadium.
Gor Mahia’s long-standing ambition to build their own stadium has suffered a major setback after an unsuccessful attempt to secure ownership documents for a piece of land adjacent to the Kasarani Stadium.
The FKF Premier League champions had initially been allocated the land, which lies next to the iconic stadium where they have hosted several high-profile league matches.
However, prolonged delays in acquiring the land’s title deed have now forced the club to abandon the project.

Newly re-elected club chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed the decision, stating that Gor Mahia will now seek alternative land that is not tied to the government, in hopes of developing their own facility with support from benefactors.
“We decided to abandon that pursuit and to look for land which has got nothing to do with the government, purchase it with the help of some of our benefactors, and then put up a stadium,” Rachier said via Citizen TV, following his re-election on Sunday at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
This marks yet another chapter in the club's decades-long struggle to establish a permanent home.
The land near Kasarani was reportedly allocated to Gor Mahia and arch-rivals AFC Leopards during the tenure of former President Daniel Arap Moi.
However, neither club has been able to develop the land or turn it into a home ground.

Despite the stadium blow, Rachier remains focused on strengthening the club both on and off the pitch.
He emphasized the need to grow match attendance, increase club membership, and improve the club’s financial structure to reduce reliance on sponsors.
“We need to transform this club so that at least 50% of it is in the hands of interested investors. That way, we stop relying solely on sponsors, because when they walk away, we are left exposed,” Rachier added.
Gor Mahia, who are chasing a record-extending 22nd league title, are in a tight race with Kenya Police FC and Tusker FC.
To qualify for next season’s CAF Champions League, they will need to win either the FKF Premier League or the FKF Cup.
While their dream of owning a stadium remains on hold, the club continues its pursuit of domestic dominance and continental relevance, hoping to build a legacy both on and off the pitch.
