The 22-year-old has scored two goals from two matches to underline his immediate impact at the record KPL champions

Gedeon Bendeka is banking on his imperious form for Gor Mahia to earn a miden call-up to the Democratic Republic of Congo team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations championship set for Morocco next year.

Bendeka signed for the record FKF Premier League champions at the start of this season and has already scored two goals in as many matches.

The former Entecelles marksman was on the scoresheet in the 4-0 thumping of Mathare United and last weekend, he found the back of the net in the 3-0 classy performance against Posta Rangers as K'Ogalo made a dream start to their KPL title defense.

Bendeka has made his intentions clear regarding representing his country at the 35th edition of Africa's Premier competition.

Congo DR have already booked their slot at the biennial showpiece with two matches to spare in Group H of the AFCON qualifiers.

The Leopards maintained 100 percent record in a group that has Tanzania, Ethiopia and Guinea by garnering 12 points from four matches-half the number second-placed Guinea has managed.

"Playing for a big club like Gor Mahia means that you are among the best, and I hope that my performances will help me earn a call-up to the national team (DRC) ahead of Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year," he said, according to SportsBoom.

The 22-year-old scored 13 goals in 22 appearances for Rwandan side Entecelles prior to his Gor Mahia switch.

Bendeka lauded his good start to life at Gor, believing that it is the team that will help him reach dizzying heights in his promising career.

“As a player, I am happy about the positive start and scoring two goals. I came to Gor Mahia to get playing time and improve on what I believe is already a very strong foundation”.
