K'Ogalo and Azam FC gear up for an international friendly, providing a platform for talent assessment and cross-border footballing camaraderie.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will go head-to-head with Tanzania's top-flight side Azam FC in a highly anticipated international friendly match at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Sunday.

K'Ogalo have organized this friendly to provide their head coach Johnathan McKinstry with a valuable opportunity to assess the players in camp.

This preparation comes after the league took a brief break to accommodate the FIFA calendar, allowing uncalled players to recharge and regroup for upcoming challenges.

The history of these two teams attempting to meet on the pitch goes back to March, when they were initially scheduled for an international friendly that, unfortunately, did not materialize.

Now, with renewed determination and a desire for quality competition, they are finally set to face off.

Azam FC spokesperson Hashim Ibwe expressed the importance of this friendly encounter.

"Players will be out of action for two weeks. It is important that we secure a friendly encounter before we resume competitive matches. Hopefully, we will get another team to play in the region," he said as per Habari Leo.

Gor Mahia currently sit in second place on the league table, and they have a crucial match against Muhoroni Youth scheduled for Sunday, November 26 when the league resumes.

This friendly against Azam FC will serve as a valuable test and preparation for their upcoming league fixture, ensuring that they are in top form and ready to compete for the title once again.

In addition to their domestic commitments, Gor Mahia has also contributed to the national team, Harambee Stars, by sending three of their players to the squad.

Geoffrey Ochieng, Rooney Onyango and Benson Omala are currently gearing up to represent Kenya in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Seychelles.
