Three Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) matches are lined up for Wednesday.

Record Premier League champions Gor Mahia are slowly charging towards their 20th title and will face Mathare United with a seven-point buffer at the summit on the offing as Vihiga Bullets face FC Talanta in a relegation six pointer while Wazito take on Kariobangi Sharks.

Mathare United vs Gor Mahia

K’Ogalo have enjoyed dominace in this fixture and will look to extend their supremacy when they face the Slum Boys in a league clash slated for a 3 PM kick off at the Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday 1 March.

Of the 27 head to head matches played since 2009, Gor Mahia have emerged victorious in 12 games while 11 draws have been registered with Mathare winning only four encounters.

Following a torrid start to the season, Mathare have however steadied their ship under the tutelege of Samuel Koko after Boniface Omondi was shown the door at the start of February as they have won three of their last four games.

Gor Mahia who currently lead the standings have only lost a single game this season which came against KCB and posses the meanest defense in the league having only soaked in seven goals.

K’Ogalo head coach Johnathan McKinstry has been impressed with his side’s team spirit and also lauded his top marksman Benson Omala who has netted 16 goals in 16 games this season.

“This is a really good group of players and coaching staff some of whom have been around K'Ogalo for a long time, there is a really good mindset, we have had visitors who've spent a few days with us and the comments I get are on the camaraderie of the group.

When you step into the senior game, you've got to learn the things that are important to do and the things that are less important and I think this season we have adapted to what we have tried to do with him (Omala) but then it's about his talent and not the coaching staff,” McKinstry told NTV.

Wazito vs Kariobangi Sharks

Charles Odero’s charges will be looking to overwrite their 10 game winless streak when they host Kariobangi Sharks in a league clash scheduled for a 3 PM kick off at the Muhoroni Stadium.

Wazito have posted dismal results which have left them in the relegation zone having only won two games thus far this season, a run which cost Jeff Odongo his job.

Sharks on the other hand will be looking to build up on their 2-0 victory over Sofapaka last time out which halted their five-game winless run.

Wazito have struggled in this particular fixture as they have only one solitary win over Sharks and have lost three games and drawn as many encounters.

FC Talanta vs Vihiga Bullets

Financial struggles have left both clubs languishing on the wrong end of the table but a win here will go a long way in helping either club secure their top flight status for next season.

Bullets are in abysmal form having lost their last nine matches and are currently anchored to the foot of the table with a single victory that came against Nairobi City Stars.

FC Talanta on the other hand have failed to win any of their last four games a run that includes the 6-0 demolition against AFC Leopards.

Ken Kenyatta’s men have however drawn their last two matches and will look to pick up victory against Wazito having been handed Ksh23 million boon from Communications Authority of Kenya.
