Cabinet secretary for ICT Eliud Owalo is pulling strings to claim the coveted 'post'

Gor Mahia executive committee in cahoots with influential personalities within the club circles are speeding up a potentially incendiary plot to oust former prime minister Raila Odinga as club patron with ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo waiting in the wings to assume the post.

Seen in both football and political prisms, Gor Mahia fanbase accounts for one of the fearsome followings with the club patronage central to the Luo community leadership.

“It is a political game that football fans are yet to see. The plan is to endear potential replacements to club following and get them involved with club operations. Eventually they want to replace Jakom as Gor Mahia patron,” a source within the club confided in Pulse Sports Kenya

Odinga has for the past decade been K’Ogalo patron but his waning age and political influence coupled with the burning desire by political operatives to replacing as Nyanza kingpin

The plan, hatched in February but shelved during the fractious protests within the country, is to popularize Owalo among Gor Mahia branches and general fanbase such that when the announcement will be made few will resist having seen him engaging positively in club affairs.

“A big portion of the plot involves charity, tokens and incentives to the club management and playing unit. Even the numerous branches will benefit in various ways. If you are keen in other political happenings you would know that the script is a copy and paste from elsewhere to Gor Mahia,” added the source who requested anonymity for fear of missing out and consequent victimization

Gor Mahia are on course for another premier league title which will thrust them back to continental assignments where Owalo’s influence, support and generosity will play out bigtime.

The executive committee members led Chairman Ambrose Rachier and Secretary General Sam Ochola held a meeting last week at the CS’s office and shared the pictures. The meeting resolved to forge ahead with the ouster plan and rope in branches and other influential fans to avoid any fallout when the big announcement is made.
