Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKinstry is bullish ahead of the clash against Tusker FC in the FKF Premier League.

Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry is oozing confidence as his team prepares to face Tusker FC in a highly anticipated Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash this Sunday.

McKinstry, confident after a resounding 8-0 victory over Kahawa United in a friendly match, acknowledges the strength of Tusker, emphasizing the impact of their recent signings.

With K’Ogalo securing second place on the table with 12 points from six matches, McKinstry remains focused on maintaining their impressive form this season.

In a recent interview, McKinstry expressed his optimism about the upcoming game while acknowledging the formidable opposition posed by Tusker.

"We are going to win the next game. Tusker signed a lot of players … and it takes time as you don't throw players out on the football pitch and expect them to win football matches,” he stated.

But even in his optimism, McKinstry is quick to acknowledge the potency of Tusker FC, who have been busy in the transfer market.

"There are good players at Ruaraka, and there are two who we could have taken if they were available. They are dangerous opponents," he cautioned.

Gor Mahia's recent victory over arch-rivals AFC Leopards has added to their impressive performance this season, propelling them to second place on the table with 12 points.

McKinstry's strategic approach and the team's dominance in recent matches underscore their determination to secure victory against Tusker.

As Tusker sits in seventh place on the FKFPL standings with eight points from six matches, McKinstry's acknowledgment of their opponent's recent signings suggests a keen understanding of the evolving dynamics within the league.

Posta Rangers currently leads the log with 16 points, maintaining a four-point lead over second-placed Gor Mahia.

Reflecting on the head-to-head record between Gor Mahia and Tusker, McKinstry highlighted the competitive history between the two teams.

While Gor Mahia emerged victorious in the first leg of the previous season with a 2-1 scoreline, the second leg ended in a 0-0 draw.

The overall statistics over the last six league meetings show Tusker's advantage, having won three matches to Gor Mahia's one, with two encounters concluding in draws.
