Some K’Ogalo supporters have raised concern over the team’s pre-season schedule with their rivals pitching camp in neighbouring countries

A section of Gor Mahia fans have raised concerns over what they term ‘lack of proper’ pre-season preparations for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions ahead of their title defence this month.

Gor Mahia have been going about their business quietly while their league rivals traverse the region as part of their tune up ahead of the 2023-24 season.

So far, Kenya Police have been in Tanzania, where they have played friendly matches with Singida United and are in Rwanda this weekend for a match against Rayon Sport, while Bandari are also in the country for a friendly with moneybags Azam FC on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz are in Uganda, where they played against Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), while Tusker are set to travel for Arusha on Sunday.

With Gor taking on local rivals Bidco United on Saturday, a section of their supporters feel they are not having enough preparations ahead of the new campaign.

“Gor are quiet like a dead person, no friendly. Police are playing in Dar, (Gor Mahia) office, please do something,” said a concerned fan on social media.

However, not everyone agrees with him, with others feeling K’Ogalo still have no equals locally even if they do not travel across the boarders for pre-season.

“Gor do not play friendlies because Police are playing them,” replied one fan.

“Do not bother us with friendlies, Gor are waiting to take the title,” said another one.

“Even if they got to the United States, we are not shaken. Gor Mahia are smart, the coach knows what he is doing. Relax, Police, just like Wazito, paraded superstars but they are headed nowhere. Gor still have no competition in the KPL,” roared another K’Ogalo supporter.

However, some still feel Gor Mahia should be playing pre-season games against their ‘equals’ in the region if not the continent.

“It is a big joke for a team that is supposed to be at (the) continental stage with their age mates, doing friendlies with teams in a league that cannot pay champions money,” said another fan.

Gor fans have endured a tough two weeks after seeing their team kicked out of the CAF Champions League due to the club’s inability to pay money owed to former players on time.

K’Ogalo are yet to unveil their new signings although Lawrence Juma, Kevin Omondi and Rooney Onyango, who have joined the club, are training with Jonathan McKinstry’s men who have pitched camp in Thika in recent days.
