Gor Mahia could face selection dilemma after the international break. This is star midfielder suffered an injury setback and faces a race against time to be fit.

Barely three weeks after returning from a month-long layoff, Gor Mahia are now sweating over the fitness of one of their star players.

Austin Odhiambo, K'Ogallo's creative lynchpin, has been in fine form since returning to action in mid february. The dynamic midfielder is now racing against time to be fit for the club’s next match after the international break after seemingly aggravating the problem in the past match.

A source from the club told Mozzart Sports that Odhiambo struggled to impose himself against Bandari and was subsequently hooked off  and the medical team is waiting to know the extent of the nagging injury.

“Austin is injured. The injury from Machakos seems to have relapsed, and the club’s medical team is assessing it. He struggled against Bandari and had to be taken off. It’s now a waiting game to see how soon he’ll be ready to play again. Hopefully, he’ll be fit after the international break.”

Astin Odhiambo was part of the Harambee Stars 49-member provisional squad that was called up for duty by newly-appointed Stars coach Benni McCarthy.

However, Gor Mahia's top scorer this season with eight goals missed in the final 23-man team, urther raising doubts over his fitness. This is despite being in imperious form in the last couple of matches.

During Gor Mahia’s 2-0 victory over Bandari FC on Saturday, Odhiambo suffered a setback and had to be substituted in the 57th minute after visibly struggling on the pitch.

Gor Mahia's technical bech will hope that the injury is not serious as Odhiambo is a key player in the title run-in. The record KFK Premier League champions are involved in a three-way title battle with Police and Tusker. Gor Mahia sit third with 42 points, three adrift of leaders Police although they have a game in hand.
