Gor Mahia are gearing up for a crucial showdown against Tusker FC in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match set to be played on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Machakos Stadium.

The bad news for Gor Mahia is that influential midfielder John Macharia will not be available to play against Tusker.
Macharia sustained an ankle injury during training last week, causing him to miss the previous game against Kariobangi Sharks.
McKinstry provided an update on Macharia's condition, stating, "John Macharia unfortunately hasn't trained this week a lot. You know, he was very unlucky. He had a great training week last week and then sort of the day before the match against Sharks, he picked up a little ankle injury and that's hung around this week. So he's not in consideration."

FKFPL Can Gor Mahia maintain unbeaten streak against Matano's resurgent Tusker?
Robert Matano has a relatively good record against Gor Mahia since returning to Ruaraka in 2018. Will he extend it this weekend?
However, there is a glimmer of hope for Gor Mahia as Joshua Onyango, who was stretchered off during a recent match, is now fit and available for selection.
McKinstry confirmed this positive development, saying, "But Joshua Onyango is fine again after coming off injured. And yeah, other than that, it's a clean bill of health for everybody. So really just John Macharia isn't sort of available, but everyone else is."
Gor Mahia currently tops the league table with 40 points, while Tusker FC sits in third place with 31 points after 18 rounds of matches.

A victory for Tusker would narrow the gap between them and Gor Mahia at the top of the table. On the other hand, a loss for the brewers would allow K’Ogalo to maintain their edge in the race for their 21st league title.
Tusker FC has struggled against Gor Mahia in recent encounters, with no victories in the last three consecutive matches.
Tusker's coach, Matano, believes that poor officiating played a role in two of those matches, and another ended in a frustrating goalless draw, as they were denied a clear goal.
