Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has begged Chelsea to sign Victor Osimhen by all means possible.

Osimhen's transfer move this summer has been one of the biggest news with the forward yet to leave Napoli.

The Premier League team have been in the market for a striker and their recent deal to sign Samu Omorodion fell through.

However, the 2013 AFCON winner has urged his former club to go all out for the African Best Player of the Year.

Mikel pleads with Chelsea

Osimhen is one of the forwards Chelsea are eyeing this summer, but because of his high value, closing a deal on him now appears unlikely.

Despite his proposed release clause, Mikel has instructed Chelsea to sign the Super Eagles striker without hesitation.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel said, "I keep saying we need a Victor Osimhen. Go and get Victor Osimhen.

“Please get that deal done because we need an out-and-out striker. He is a player that is going to get us goals.

"Yes, I have said it, technically maybe not the best, goalscoring, he will get us goals and that is what we need. We need a striker who will stay around the box like Haaland.

"Technically, it's not very good. A lot of people talk about his technique but he is a killer. He gets you goals and that is what we need."

The Blues have made massive financial investments in the last several windows, and according to a recent report, they have 16 forwards among their 43 first-team players.

Romelu Lukaku is still a target for Napoli, so there's still a chance the Stamford Bridge team may sign the Nigerian international this summer.
