FIFA Rankings: Yamal, Williams, Nigeria and Ghana
After a historic win in Germany inspired by Yamal, the young player of the tournament, and his partner in crime, Williams, Spain leapt five places to third.
"Spain is doing well...... Just look at the stats on how Spain improved as a team," one fan exclaimed, as the Iberian nation jumped up five places to claim the third spot in the rankings.
"Yamal + Williams ====== Spain Teams," another fan marvelled, highlighting the duo's pivotal role in the national team's resurgence.
While Spain's ascent has been celebrated, the drop in the rankings of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has sparked a different reaction from fans.
Despite the poor run that forced former coach Finidi George to resign, the Nigerian national team has managed to maintain its status as one of the top-ranked teams in Africa, coming in at 39th in the world.
However, their disappointing results in the World Cup qualifiers have led to a one-place slide in the rankings, fuelling belief that neighbours, Ghana, who sit 12th on the continent, will leapfrog Nigeria soon.
"Ghana will surely overtake Nigeria," one supporter predicted, as the West African rivals jockey for supremacy on the continental stage.
Elsewhere on the continent, the Atlas Lions of Morocco remain the number one ranked team in Africa, while Lionel Messi’s Argentina take the position as the best in the world after adding Copa America to their World Cup in Qatar.
"Argentina the beauty of the whole world congratulations," another fan chimed in, as the Albiceleste maintained their position at the top of the global rankings.
As the football world awaits the next instalment of the FIFA Rankings, fans remain captivated by the shifting sands of power, the rise of new superstars, and the perennial battle for continental supremacy.
